Here is a little-known Canadian organization that I heard about by a cancer sister: Victoria’s Quilts Canada.
The mission of Victoria’s Quilts Canada is to provide handmade quilts to people living with cancer in Canada. By providing these quilts, we hope to bring physical comfort to those dealing with cancer, as well as spiritual comfort in knowing they are not alone in their struggle.
It is FREE and open to anyone living in Canada with cancer (regardless of type), who is on treatment and who has never received one before. These are new quilts made from fabrics that have not been used before.
I ordered a quilt during my treatments and I love it very much. I know of others who have also received one and we are all satisfied. The ones I saw are all very different but very pretty. They come in with a matching bag that can be used to store them.
In French also
The national office is in Ottawa but they have branch offices in almost all provinces.
Their website is bilingual English/French: http://www.victoriasquiltscanada.com/index.html.
I can confirm that you will get an answer no matter if you contact them in English or in French.
